Is the ACB clear on how big Mount Teide is?

Gio Shermadini, from lenovo tenerifehas been recognized this season as the MVP of the Endesa League. For the second consecutive year, the center of the BC Canary Islands receives this distinction, which serves to support the good track record of the Laguna team.

On this occasion, the ACB has chosen to surprise Shermadini in full flight: Huertas handed the trophy to his partner in the narrow aisle of the plane and in the middle of the ovation of the rest of the staff.

The League itself recalls that last year they also wanted to surprise Gio with the recognition, although then the delivery took place in the Teide National Park. And this is where the fun confusion comes that has not gone unnoticed by the most savvy.

📆 May 26, 2021@gioshermadini received his #MVPMovistar on Teide, the highest point in Spain. Yes, it seemed impossible to overcome 3,970m…

Impo… what?

The idea was to highlight that this year they wanted to go higher to celebrate the Georgian’s game on the pitches. Up to 11,000 meters high, specifically, in front of those of Teide. Although they have not succeeded with the measurement of the highest peak in Spain.

Thus, in the video that accompanies the announcement of the winner of the trophy, it is indicated that in 2021/22 the MVP was delivered at 3,700 meters. But it is that in addition, in the post of the social networks they do not hit the mark either: “Yes, it seemed impossible to overcome 3,970 meters…”, reads the text.

They shrink it and raise it: Teide actually measures 3,715 meters, if it is taken into account that in the last measurements the figure was lowered. Of course, this error is nothing more than an anecdote compared to the joy of the Canarian team for continuing to add successes and whose announcement is also made a few days after Lenovo Tenerife begins the last stage of the competition in the playoffs that start on Sunday.
