The educational project Mini Theater Festcreated by Free Run Educa and promoted by the DISA Foundationhas closed this week a new edition in Gran Canaria and Tenerife with the participation of 19 educational centers. It is a training project that brings the theater experience closer to the 5th and 6th grade classrooms and continues to add successes among the educational community.
Through various training actionsgiven by performing arts professionals Guacimara Correa and Emma Álvarezthe students have acquired the necessary knowledge to devise, write, interpret, direct, produce and stage their own plays, with a maximum duration of 15 minutes.
Celebrating its fifth edition in Gran Canaria, the project has had the participation of 11 educational centers on the Island. The final gala, where the students demonstrated everything they had learned in a real stage box, was held at the Doctor Juan Rodríguez de Valleseco Municipal Auditorium. Total, four finalist centers represented their works before an audience made up of family members and colleagues and was attended by Sara Mateos, director of the DISA Foundation, and Olaia Morán, counselor for Youth and Education of the Council of Gran Canariacollaborating entity of the initiative.
Eight participants in Tenerife
For its part, the island of Tenerife celebrated its third edition with the collaboration of the Department of Education, Youth, Local Development and OMIC of the La Laguna City Council, which was represented by the area councilor, José Juan Gavilán. on this occasion a total of eight educational centers were the participantsarriving on this occasion five at the final performance that was held at the Teatro Leal.
The original scripts created by themselves stand out for the use of fantasy, drama, comedy and science fiction, an example of this were the finalist works ‘Future without return’, from CEIP Manolo Ortega (Arucas); ‘The three-tailed dragon’ from CEIP Galicia (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria); ‘Furry and the breakfast coconut’ from the CEIP Doctor Juan Espino Sánchez (Ingenuity); ‘A very Canarian life’ from CEIP Agustín Hernández Díaz (Moya); ‘The facteitor tower’ of CEIP San Luis Gonzaga (San Cristóbal de La Laguna); ‘The magical kingdom’ of CEIP Los Dragos (Santa Cruz de Tenerife); ‘The trip through the islands’ of CEIP Fernando III El Santo (San Cristóbal de La Laguna); ‘Branches between worlds’ of the CEIP Infanta Elena (La Orotava); and ‘Lunar Island’ of CEIP Santa Rosa de Lima (San Cristóbal de La Laguna).
In addition to recognizing all the finalist works, the jury present valued the work of representation, set design, original script and editing, giving voice to the teachers in charge of the project in the different centers, who expressed gratitude for the initiative and these sessions provide students with tools applicable to the attention and learning of other subjects, in addition to promoting values and communication resources.
Both galas were led by the Canarian actor Mingo Ávila, who shows great theatrical experience in Canary Islands and audiovisual of a national character with his participation in series such as Hierro, Campamento Newton or Las noches de Tefía, which will premiere soon.
