Fasnia bets on the heights of Archifira for local apitourism

On the occasion of World Bee Day (May 20)on Monday it was inaugurated in the place known as Archifira, in the heights of the municipality of Fasniaat more than 1,000 meters of altitude, installations of didactic panels on the uses of local beekeeping.

Its objective is to publicize the beekeeping tradition of the municipality while informing about the importance of the different types of honey flora that abound in it, all accompanied by a unique natural space of high ethnographic value yet to be discovered. It is an innovative commitment to value local products and the natural spaces where they are produced, such as tajinaste honey, a kilometer 0 agri-food treasure.

the beekeeper Adasat Pena has been the promoter of the idea, with the unconditional support of the City Council along with other collaborations such as the Casa de la Miel del Cabildo de Tenerife. The event was attended by members of the Fasnia municipal corporation, the Councilor for Agriculture and Livestock of the Cabildo, Javier Parrilla, together with the agricultural extension agents of the Fasnia-Arico region, Guacimara Medina and Carlos Díaz, and the veterinary technician from the House of Honey, Zoa Hernández. Taking advantage of the occasion, during the visit, they were able to get closer to the beekeeping farms that have participated this year in the ‘Color a Beehive’ initiative. Adasat Peña’s own didactic project, to bring the world of bees, honey and nature closer to the little ones.

In this edition, the project of drawing the beehives has been carried out by the students of CEO Guajara from the municipality of Fasnia, who expressed their satisfaction during the presentation to the attendees.

After the visit, everyone had the opportunity to taste a sample of the diversity of honey produced in the municipality, all accompanied by a pairing with local products of differentiated quality.
