A union denounces the usurpation of police functions in La Matanza by the Prosecutor’s Office

The Independent Union and Officials Central (CSIF), majority in the Municipality of La Matanza de Acentejo, has filed a complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office of Santa Cruz de Tenerife when considering that the Matanzas City Council “would be promoting a crime of usurpation of functions within the Local Police after private security employees, Civil Protection volunteers and municipal vigilantes increasingly carry out functions of law enforcement officers.

This union considers it proven “through videos and different images that, in addition to the usurpation committed by municipal guards and members of Civil Protection volunteers, it has been observed how municipal guards accompany private tow trucks to remove vehicles on public roads, without Local Police service at that time, or as municipal guards, after making road cuts, they begin to direct traffic on an interurban road such as the TF-215, endangering drivers and passengers. citizens who roam the area, within a procession, taking into account that we are at anti-terrorist alert level 4, with special reinforcement at Easter ».

«It has also been observed how municipal security guards rearrange traffic, even giving orders to drivers as if they were real agents of the authority; different processions and parties are carried out without perimeter, with security plans of dubious legality, without strengthening the security of the municipality with other agents of the authority such as Civil Guard either Canarian Police“, warns the CSIF union, which regrets that this town, which has a population of about 9,000 inhabitants, “should have a staff of between 16 and 20 agents and currently only has a local police force,” CSIF said in a statement.
