TENERIFE – FINLAND FLIGHTS: Tenerife opens new air connections with the Baltic countries

Tenerife will have new connections from the airline Air Baltic with all its bases in the Baltic countries and Finland. The Latvian-flagged airline, although in close relationship with its sister republics of Estonia and Lithuania, will incorporate the destinations of Tallinn and Vilnius, Estonian and Lithuanian capitals respectively, as well as the Finnish city of Tampere into its offer with the Island. All this after having consolidated the Riga route, the Latvian capital, a destination with which it has remained connected since 2021 and with which it has increased its frequencies. The Scandinavian SAS and the Hungarian Wizz Air have also confirmed that they will carry out a reinforcement of their operations with the island

Air Baltic announces these new connections from Tenerife with all its bases starting next winter. This was communicated by the airline to the Tenerife Tourism delegation that recently attended the Routes Europe connectivity fair, held in Lodz (Poland).

He President of the Council of Tenerife, Pedro Martín, values ”the good results obtained by the delegation of professionals who have traveled to Poland to participate in one of the most important events in the sector”. This work visit is part of, explains Martín, “within the destination’s strategy to continue attracting quality tourism that generates a greater economic impact on the Island.”

since the end of october

In this way, Air Baltic will connect the Island with Tallinn (Estonia) from October 30, with Vilnius (Lithuania) from the 31 of the same month, and with Tampere (Finland) from November 1. All these routes will have two weekly frequencies. These destinations are added to the already consolidated connection with Riga, which began in September 2021 and has gone from three to five weekly flights.

For its part, Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS), the flag carrier of the Nordic countries, also informed the Tenerife delegation of the reinforcement of its operations with the island.

As of October 8, the Scandinavian company will add the Norwegian cities of Bergen and Stavenger to its destinations, both with a weekly frequency. In the same way, representatives of the low-cost airline and Hungarian flag Wizz Air announce that they will incorporate a new route between Tenerife and the Polish city of Gdansk from next October 29. The connection, which will be operational throughout the year, will in this case have two weekly flights.

The Tenerife delegation that attended the Routes Europe fair held meetings with representatives of important airlines such as Air Lingus, Air Canada, Air France, ITA, Iberia, Air Transat, Air Baltic, Lot Polish, Norwegian, Swiss Air Lines, Turkish Airlines, United Airlines and TAP Portugal.

The air connectivity of Tenerife is one of the great lines of work of Tourism focused on recovering flag lines such as Air France or Lutfhansa. The Island maintains 110 routes with as many destinations around the world.
