The residents of the Aloe I building, in El Fraile, are desperate at the possibility of an eviction for the prolonged administrative silence of Visocan in relation to the signature that would formalize the purchase contract for these VPO homes. The ten families have threatened to chain themselves this Monday at the doors of the public company.
The councilor for the Mixed group of the Arona City Council and candidate for Drago Verdes Canarias, Antonella Aliotti, denounces the extreme situation faced by the residents of this building. “We have been waiting for a year for the definitive signature with the bank. Visocan shirks all its responsibilities and treats the families residing in these homes with contempt,” she says. Meanwhile, from the Arona City Council they show their support for the neighborhood demands.
The mayor points out that since 2011 these homes were rented under an option to purchase regime. “In 2020, a motion came to the plenary session of the municipal Council to pay the three million euros for the purchase of the 14 floors of the Aloe I building, a commitment that Visocan acquired. This agreement was reached unanimously and the money has been deposited in Visocan since June 2022”, says Aliotti.
Aliotti recalls that the Visocan spokesman stated a month ago in DIARIO DE AVISOS that “the Social Services of the City Council evaluated the level of vulnerability of the families that live there and they will have no problem continuing to be tenants of the Aloe I building”, although the The definitive purchase has not yet been made to the bank that owns the property.
He assures that the families have paid lawyers and that in Visocan they do not pick up the phone. “Now what worries me is not only the signing of the bank and Visocan, but the signing of the contracts between Visocan and the families,” says Aliotti.
