The general secretary of the PSOE and candidate for re-election as president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, assures that one of the party’s objectives for the next legislature is to improve connectivity with the less populated islands, increasing, if possible, the connections airlines and betting on new infrastructures in transport policy.
In this sense, taking advantage of his visit this Wednesday to the coast of Alajeró, in La Gomera, he has referred to the port of Playa Santiago, located in this same town, informing that “the modified project is about to arrive in the Canary Islands informed by Costas”, a procedure that will allow it to continue with its materialization.
“We have made allegations, which we have collected from the Government of the Canary Islands, and these have reached the Ministry of Transition and Coasts, which has issued its report. It will now go to the Quality Agency and then to the Canary Islands to continue processing,” he detailed. the leader of the Canarian socialists, who has underlined “the commitment” of the party to “have the best performance, the most consensual, the most participated and, without a doubt, with a financial record to be able to execute and carry out, as has been done with other major works, the beach port of Playa Santiago”.
Regarding the increase in connectivity between islands, he cited the progress already achieved in this legislature, among which is “maintaining and even increasing” the airlines between La Gomera and Gran Canaria or the declaration of public service (OSP) of the maritime connection with the island of El Hierro.
Ángel Víctor Torres has also had words of recognition for the work carried out by Manuel Ramón Plasencia as mayor of the municipality of Alajeró: “He has been a benchmark for the socialist party, with responsibilities that go even beyond his municipality and that he has transformed without no doubt Alajeró for the better”.
