He public parking in the Plaza de España in Santa Cruz it lacks accessibility. For years, the City Council, through the Public Services area, has been demanding that the concessionaire undertake the necessary work to install an elevator that allows people with reduced mobility to access the car park safely, without having to do so by the same ramp that the cars do.
Given the lack of response from the concessionaire, the area directed by Carlos Tarife has decided to open a sanction file for a very serious infraction. “If they do not respond, we will continue to impose sanctions, and when another two of a very serious nature have been imposed, because not being accessible is a serious infraction, we will proceed to rescue the concession for non-compliance with the concession specifications,” Tarife explained yesterday.
The mayor recalled that the concession of this car park ends in 2025, the date on which the management will be rescued, “but if the imposition of sanctions is completed before that date, that concession will be rescued before,” said Tarife.
As the mayor recognized, the objective of these files is none other than to be able to rescue the concession as soon as possible, because the amount of these sanctions is something “outrageous, shameful.” And it is that, explained Tarife, “the specifications prepared in the year 2000 established that the amount of a very serious infraction is only 90 euros. Something completely inconceivable ”, lamented the mayor.
This car park is one of the seven that Public Services contacted to lower the rates, a requirement that it did meet, reducing the price from 2.12 euros per hour to 1.53.
