A total of 23 entities from the third sector have been beneficiaries of the Cabildo de Tenerife subsidies for the distribution of food and essential products among people and families in vulnerable situations on the island. In total, 1,290,000 euros for the entities associated with the Tenerife Isla Solidaria program, dependent on Sinpromi. This is line 2 of the Cabildo subsidies to entities that distribute basic products on the island.
The CEO of Citizen Participation and Diversity, Nauzet Gugliotta, explained that, through these grants, the resolution of which has just been published on the Notice Board of the Cabildo website (www.tenerife.es), “the organizational structure of the entities that distribute and distribute food and other basic products is supported to help them maintain their activity on the island.” “Thanks to whose work we contribute to alleviate the situation and improve the quality of life of the population that needs it most,” he added.
This line of subsidies includes a specific item of 190,000 euros for the purchase and distribution of menstrual hygiene products among low-income women on the island. This is the first time that an item has been enabled for this purpose, with the aim of minimizing the effects of menstrual poverty experienced by many women as they have financial difficulties to periodically access these necessary items, a factor that increases health risks and fosters gender inequality.
For the economic distribution, a linear criterion has been established, in equal parts between the entities, and the population they serve on the island, people and families they reach, among other criteria. The number of women who attend has also been taken into account, in case of attending the specific aid for the distribution of menstrual hygiene products. The beneficiary entities will have a term for the execution of the aid from June 1, 2023 until May 31, 2024.
To this resolution is added the one published in April, corresponding to Line 1 of subsidies, intended for entities that distribute basic products among delivery entities, of which two entities were beneficiaries. The economic amount allocated to this line was 410,000 euros, 10,000 euros for menstrual hygiene items.
