The Prosecutor’s Office requests a 40-year prison sentence (20 for each of the victims) for a man who will be tried next Monday at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Court, for stabbing his parents to death in San Miguel de Abona , a fact that he recognized when he turned himself in to the Civil Guard.
The Public Ministry, which considers that the aggravating factors of treachery and kinship should be applied, requests another ten years of probation, the payment of 300,000 euros to each of the two brothers and a restraining order with respect to them.
The defendant had already been convicted of crimes related to domestic violence in different sentences and lived with his parents when on March 11, 2020, around 11:00 p.m., he argued with them because they denied him the money he requested, after having consumed crack.
Despite this, the Public Prosecutor’s Office considers that his mental faculties and will were not altered, for which reason it holds him fully responsible for taking the life of his parents using a knife with a 15-centimeter blade.
The Prosecutor’s Office maintains that the crime was committed with treachery, since the victims could not defend themselves from the attack that first focused on the mother, to whom he stabbed several times that affected her lungs and liver, and when she was kneeling, he slit her throat and caused her death.
Then he went to the father, who had just come out of the bathroom, and stabbed him five times in the thorax that penetrated the lung, liver and heart, causing him to fall to the ground, where he cut his neck.
Then he took off his father’s clothes and shoes, put on other clothes, took the money that was in the house, the keys to his father’s car and the house, which he left locked, and went to a place where he dumped the bloody clothes and the murder weapon in a dumpster.
Then he went to the town of El Fraile to be with a prostitute, after which, again on the way to Guaza, he threw away the keys to the house that he had taken from the mother’s corpse and wandered through El Médano and Las Chafiras until that he turned himself in to the Civil Guard the following night, acknowledging responsibility for the events from the beginning.
