He President of the Council of Tenerife and candidate for re-election for the PSOE, Pedro Martín, pointed out this Wednesday that the party he feels “most distanced” from is the CC and also that he is free, within his party, to negotiate an eventual government pact after the 28M elections.
In statements to El Espejo Canario collected by EFE, Martín has indicated that “red lines” are not considered a priori, although he rules out agreeing with Voxsince “with those I would not go anywhere”, and more than parties, I would put the discussion of “programs” and “what we want for Tenerife” in this hypothetical negotiation scenario.
“Right now”, the socialist candidate pointed out, “with whom I am most distanced without a doubt is with Canarian Coalition“, since” we are two parties with totally different proposals.
Regarding the PP, he recalled that the PSOE has reached “more agreements” than with the CC, for example, to “close the 2023 budget”.
“What I do is negotiate permanently. I have not done anything else in these four years. My party has had a lot of capacity for dialogue and a left hand and we are going to continue with that way of working,” he stated.
Asked if he will ask the PSOE for freedom to negotiate after the 28M elections, on which different surveys point to a scenario of maximum equality between socialists and nationalists, and that the PP could tip the balance of one side or the other, he has assumed that he will have it and that he does not even have to ask for it.
“My party leaves me enough autonomy to make decisions. It did so last term, to reach the agreement that I thought was best and now, of course. I am not kidnapped by an agreement prior to running for election because I am already an adult and I am not here to these questions”, has settled.
