CC proposes measures for the employment of women, young people, the elderly and the self-employed

Canarian Coalition proposes specific measures to promote the employment of women, young people, over 45 years of age and the self-employed. The candidate for the Presidency of Canary Islands in the next regional elections, Fernando Clavijo, warns that the jobs created in the last four years “are precarious.” Rosa Davilacandidate to preside over the Cabildo de Tenerifepoints out that “employment has been destroyed on the Island.”

Clavijo and Dávila defended their commitment yesterday “aimed at fighting against precarious work created in the last four years, which has only served to make poverty chronic.” The nationalist leader denounced “the triumphalism of the Pact of Flowers” because “what there is today in the Canary Islands – he stressed – is a new social class: that of the poor workers, that of thousands of discontinuous permanent workers, 41% of the jobs created between 2019 and 2022”. He added: “People who work one season a year and when they don’t, they neither receive a salary nor are they unemployed.”

Clavijo valued these data as “alarming”. For this reason, he proposed a strategy aimed at reverting precarious work. He detailed some commitments in his commitment to stable and quality employment. Between them, «zero rate for self-employed during the first two years, expandable to three in the case of young entrepreneurs; incentives for hiring and Social Security bonuses for groups with difficult insertion, among them, for unemployed people over 45 years of age who have not completed their Social Security contribution”.

Rosa Dávila, for her part, revealed that in Tenerife, “four years have been lost, since we have not yet recovered the level of employment of 2019.” She indicated that “according to the data from the Active Population Survey (EPA), there are 6,610 less employed people and 3,780 more unemployed. What is the same: employment has been destroyed ». She concludes that “so far in the mandate, the elimination of jobs in the private sector is over 30,000 jobs.”

Dávila indicated that “we advocate education as a base, the difference between territories to guarantee equal opportunities and policies in priority sectors.” The insular government program of DC collects 22 proposals on the area. The creation of a Youth Employment Plan and the strengthening of Neighborhoods for Employment, Habilis, for people with disabilities, and Estamos con Ellas, for women, stand out.
