The attempt at the Caldera de Taburiente is considered stabilized

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, May 14. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Cabildo de La Palma has considered stabilized at 10:20 a.m. the outbreak of a forest fire that broke out yesterday afternoon, Saturday, in Palmita de la Hiedra, inside La Caldera de Taburiente, at the base of the Cascada de la Bottomless, in the municipality of El Paso, and which has affected an estimated area of ​​1.4 hectares.

The attempt remains at level 1 and the device made up of land resources continues to carry out cooling and surveillance tasks on the perimeter.

The president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Mariano H. Zapata, explained that the speed and efficiency of the troops have allowed the work to be exemplary in the work of extinction of the attempt. Since the warning was given yesterday afternoon until this morning, the aerial means have carried out more than 60 discharges of water.

The Minister for the Environment, María Rodríguez, highlighted the actions of the Environment Service personnel, who went to the site from the very beginning, and stressed that the quick action of the island’s land and air resources, as well as the incorporation of troops from other islands, the Government of Spain and the Government of the Canary Islands, have been key to the attempt being stabilized as soon as possible.

For her part, the Minister of Security and Emergencies, Nieves Rosa Arroyo, has influenced the important work carried out by the Cecopin staff to coordinate the device mobilized to the municipality of El Paso, an essential job when it comes to organizing the work and activate different media.

In addition, the Eirif helitransported from La Gomera has been transferred to the place. During the morning today, Brif teams have also intervened, which will remain together with the Eirif teams in the area, taking over from the brigades that remained overnight.

Nine people have been evacuated, of which two were camped. The Cabildo has indicated that continuous surveillance work is being carried out in the four regions of the island to prevent other possible outbreaks of fire and to act quickly in the event that they occur.
