SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct 5 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Fred. Olsen Express has restructured its connections between La Gomera and Tenerife to guarantee the connectivity of La Palma in the face of the situation caused by the volcanic eruption. As of this Wednesday, the company will reorganize the ships that provide service on several of its routes between the Islands, due to a technical incident on one of its ships.

The Betancuria Express, a catamaran that usually operates between Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Morro Jable (Fuerteventura), will cover the service between Tenerife and La Gomera. The schedules, starting tomorrow Wednesday, will be the following: departures from San Sebastián de La Gomera, 07:30, 12:30 and 17:15; Departures from Los Cristianos (Tenerife), 09:15, 15:00 and 19:00.

The ship, which has operational restrictions due to a technical incident, will sail at a moderate speed, so the duration of the crossing will be 1 hour and 10 minutes. However, the six daily connections are maintained, three from each port, guaranteeing the service between both islands and increasing the current offer of passage by 40%.

For its part, the route between La Palma and Tenerife will be covered by the Benchijigua Express trimaran exclusively, which has a capacity of 1,291 passengers and 340 cars, to guarantee the necessary demand of the Island at this time, maintaining the direct connection with a duration of 2 and a half hours.

Therefore, starting this Thursday, the schedules will be as follows, also allowing to increase the number of trips in case of need: departures from Santa Cruz de La Palma, 07.00 and 17.00;
Departures from Los Cristianos, 10am and 8pm.

The company regrets the inconvenience that these changes may cause, especially to the population of La Gomera, but they emphasize that, in the face of the emergency situation, the priority is to guarantee connectivity between Tenerife and La Palma and thus ensure the relays of the emergency bodies and other displacements.

Passengers affected by the changes are already being notified. Likewise, it is recalled that the company’s tickets are valid for one year, even after the travel date, and that it is possible to make changes to the date and time at no additional cost (subject to availability). For more information, it is recommended to consult their website fredolsen.es.
