Half a million to rehabilitate the wall of the Los Tarajales promenade, in Arona

At 501,943 euros, without taxes, the budget for which the City Council of Arona tenders the partial replacement of the wall of the Paseo de Los Tarajales. Specifically, the area damaged by the strong waves. The railing will also be replaced in this enclave of Los Cristianos. The period for submitting offers is open until the 31st and, once the works have been awarded, the company will have a period of two months to carry them out, according to the municipal government.

The project has the approval of the General Directorate of the Coast and the Sea, once the Consistory included the suggestions and modifications indicated by this department of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.

The Comprehensive reform of the Paseo de Los Tarajales in its first phase, works carried out in 2020 by the Arona City Council and the Cabildo de Tenerife, required an investment of 1.5 million euros. The work involved the regeneration and recovery of an important space on the Los Cristianos coastline in 2020. The works substantially improved accessibility and pedestrian connectivity with El Coronel street and Juan Carlos I avenue. At the same time, they proceeded to remodel the entire coastal promenade (Avenida Juan Alfonso Batista), 265 meters long, to which new street furniture was added.

This reform of the Los Tarajales promenade joins the project of regeneration and rehabilitation of the beach itselfwhich already has resources from the central government amounting to two million euros, from last year’s General State Budget.

José Julián Mena, mayor of Arona, highlights the fact that, “finally, and after meticulous work on preparing the project, limiting it to the indications of the General Directorate of Coasts, the residents of The Christians they will be able to enjoy, once again, the entire promenade of Los Tarajales”. For the alderman from Aron, the rehabilitation of this part of the wall, damaged by the strong waves in this area of ​​the coast, “is great news for the municipality.”

Julia Morales, Councilor for Works, values ​​that “it was imperative to solve as soon as possible, within the deadlines that the administration allows us, the damage caused by the sea in this enclave. It is an important project with a budget of more than half a million euros”.
