SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, May 13. (EUROPE PRESS) –
Members of the Minors and Family Operational Unit (UOMF) of the General Corps of the Canary Islands Police (CGPC) are investigating three people from the same family in Tenerife for the alleged abduction of a minor, after having carried out different police actions with said family without to reach a satisfactory result.
Thus, on Friday morning, the members of said unit proceeded to charge three people, specifically, the child’s mother, as well as the child’s maternal grandparents; all for an alleged crime of child abduction, having retained him in serious breach of duty established by administrative resolution.
The affected minor has been reintegrated into the protection center entrusted with his custody, after the agents requested a home entry from the judicial authority with the sole purpose of removing him from the family circle, and given the refusal to hand over the minor of the members of the family.
According to police sources, the service began at the request of the General Directorate for Child and Family Protection and the Minors Section of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, given the seriousness of the events.
Said sources have affirmed that the facts reveal conduct on the part of the family indicative of a crime of child abduction, it has been proven by the police that the family, taking advantage of the fact that the minor had a residence permit with the former, did not proceed to the re-entry of that to the protection center that his guardian had entrusted.
Last year, said unit already acted with this same family and the police action led to the assumption of guardianship by the Government of the Canary Islands, which it continues to maintain, and for which the minor had to be reintegrated. The police proceedings have been delivered to the Investigating Court hearing the case.
