The Tourist Cybersecurity Plan will reach 670 island establishments

The Council of Tenerife the execution of the Island’s Tourism Cybersecurity Plan begins with the presentation to the companies of the sector. This is the first national destination to have an instrument of these characteristics, which will help the 670 registered hotels, apartments and rural houses to face digital threats.

Turismo de Tenerife works in the Cybersecurity Tourism Master Plan (PDTC), its exact name. For this reason, yesterday it held a conference to expose the sector to the ins and outs of the document and how the business community can benefit to face the growing digital threats.

The event was attended by the CEO of Tenerife Tourism, David Perez; the person in charge of the strategic sector of Tourism and Leisure of the National Institute of Cybersecurity (Incibe), Marco Antonio Lozano; and Hakron CEO and cybersecurity specialist Igor Lukic.

The general director of Spring Hotels, Miguel Villarroya; the CEO of the Hotel Urban Anaga, Olga Cabrera; and the information security director of NH Hoteles, Nuria Lago.

The resource aims to create a tourism and technological ecosystem for encourage companies to provide technical and legal security the visitor in the digital world. To do this, it contemplates a continuous evaluation in order to identify the vulnerabilities of its services and applications.

The objective of the conference was to make companies aware of the importance of participating and warning of the digital threats to which the sector is exposed with the example of real cases.

The project collects 17 actions to develop over four years. A Technical Office of Tourist Cybersecurity will be the directing body at the island level and will be managed by Turismo de Tenerife.

The initial phase contemplates the creation of a technical and advisory committee in the face of reputational crises of the destination due to cybersecurity incidents; the development of an advisory program for SMEs with the Chamber of Commerce and the promotion of ICT skills initiatives aimed at improving the employment linked to cybersecurity, together with the University of La Laguna and Vocational Training centers.

The second exercise includes training plans and technical awareness, a digital maturity monitoring system and the promotion of a cybersecure destination.

In the third, market studies and advice on technological equipment will be carried out and Tenerife Smart Destination projects will be promoted. Finally, in the fourth exercise, the aim is to achieve full normalization and continuity in each of the lines implemented.
