The days November 8 and 9Tenerife will host the fourth edition of the Sustainable Gastronomy Congressan event that seeks to show the good practices in the Canary Islands and highlight the importance of local product for care and respect for the environment.
The congress, co-organized by the Cabildo de Tenerife, Sabores del Norte Canarias and Senet Consultores, will feature more than 20 presentations and discussion tables that will address issues such as the relevance of artisanal fishing for the conservation of marine ecosystems and the need to promote the local economy in the tourism sector.
In a statement, the insular Councilor for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Javier Parrilla, highlighted the importance of tourist establishments promoting meat, wine, honey, cheese, fish and other local products from the islands on their menus, as a way to promote the primary sector.
The congress will be held virtually and in person, and will be divided into three blocks: person, economy and environment. The importance of the different gastronomic activities throughout the entire value chain will be highlighted, emphasizing those that are carried out in a sustainable manner.
The main objective is that these good practices serve as an example and reference for other companies and entities to promote their gastronomic projects from a more sustainable perspective. This will have a positive impact on product quality, boosting the primary sector, as well as people’s well-being and health, according to Javier Parrilla.
