The builders consider Franquis “the best adviser in four decades”

«Sebastian Franquis has proven to be the best Public Works adviser that the Government of the Canary Islands for Tenerife in the last four decades. And that is from Gran Canaria ». This was confirmed by Óscar Izquierdo, president of the Provincial Federation of Construction Entities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Fepeco) after a meeting with the socialist politician, in which they valued the “enormous progress to solve the problems of the roads on the Island” . Both institutions showed their willingness to maintain cooperation when planning the main projects related to island roads.

Izquierdo stressed that the person in charge of the regional area of Public Works, Transportation and Housing has fulfilled the promise he made to the employers at the beginning of the legislature to promote road works. He estimated “the effort” made by Franquis and his team to plan a dozen projects in four years that will mean, in his opinion, “the beginning of the end” of the road problems in Tenerife. He added that “Sebastián Franquis has promoted the Ministry internally with the incorporation of the necessary technical personnel and, above all, with the strength to make possible the projects that were previously announced so much, but never came true.”

The president of the construction association valued the work in the offices, in the preparation of projects and in promoting environmental impact statements. All this to “start the path to solving the queues and the serious problem of mobility on the Island. Thanks to the interest and special sensitivity of the Minister of Public Works.”

“All prepared”

Izquierdo stressed that “the next government has everything ready to tender the works and that must be owed to Sebastián Franquis.” He recalled that “the first time we met he and he told us that he was going to have a special interest in road works in Tenerife, because he knew that he was at an inferiority when executing this type of public work. And he has turned to our Island ».

Izquierdo stressed that Franquis “was never intimidated by demonstrations, camps or rejections of what we call the fifth column of Tenerife, the noístas who live here but do not want the progress of the Island, traitors to their land.”

“Fepeco publicly expresses its gratitude to those who have endured the criticism received in the sense of favoring Tenerife,” stressed Izquierdo.

Sebastián Franquis recalled that In these four years, more than 360 million euros have been invested in works and projects in Tenerife. He delved into the fact that “of the 16 road designs included in the 2018-2027 Highway Agreement, thirteen have already been tendered and awarded, 81%, and four are in the construction phase.” Franquis valued the “planning effort”, because “unlike what we found in 2019, the advantage of the future Government is that 90% of the planned projects will be finished.”

The counselor highlighted the importance of public-private collaboration to promote public works actions such as the construction of an efficient and modern road network that provides solutions to congestion problems on many roads in Tenerife, especially on the TF-5.
