Former civil guard José Tomás Cabrera Marichal has been arrested when he tried to introduce two kilos of cocaine into Tenerife when he disembarked on a ship from Gran Canaria. The former agent, known as Heraclio, was already sentenced along with three other colleagues in the Botavara case when it was found that they collaborated in the introduction of 733 kilos of hashish in Fuerteventura.

Heraclio’s new arrest occurred during the day yesterday, Monday, when he was leaving the passenger ship. His former colleagues from the Armed Institute were the ones who intercepted him and verified that he was carrying two kilos of the aforementioned drug, for which he was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health for drug trafficking. Cabrera Marichal is in the Civil Guard premises in the capital of Tenerife awaiting his passage to court, according to the sources consulted.

Cabrera Marichal has a record for these same crimes. Specifically in the aforementioned Botavara case when he was caught along with three other civil guards when they were introducing 733 kilos of hashish into a zodiac in Fuerteventura, which would have meant an income of 1.1 million euros, according to the ruling.

For that investigation, the former civil guard was sentenced to six years in prison and a fine of 3.4 million euros.
