The PSOE candidate for the re-election of the Mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, presented yesterday the 150 commitments of the party with the citizens for the next four years, among which the creation of 7,000 parking spaces in 21 neighborhoods and towns stands out. of the municipality and the opening of a “participatory process” among citizens to “remodel” Avenida Trinidad. The current mayor and also general secretary of the Laguna PSOE stressed that it is a program that responds to “the main needs and requests of society”, which have been reflected in these 150 commitments divided into five axes.

The first of these is La Laguna más sostenible and includes measures such as investing in energy savings and clean energy, achieving 100% accessibility, advancing in cleaning excellence, as well as efficiency in water consumption, with the creation of a desalination plant in Valle de Guerra, which “already has 20 million in the state budget,” said Gutiérrez.

In addition, it includes the announced project of the flood park, the rehabilitation of Mesa Mota to house a hostel, the construction of a Conference Center in Taco or a parking plan to create 7,000 new spaces throughout the municipality. “We have already identified the possible locations, which add up to 50,000 square meters, and we estimate that it will involve an investment of two million,” the first being in Tejina, the candidate advanced.

This axis also includes the redevelopment of Heraclio Sánchez street, with the replacement of the pavement by a cobbled floor, among other actions, as well as the opening of “a participatory process to remodel the main entrance door of La Laguna, the avenue Trinidad, which must be recognized as a grotesque and important work must be carried out so that it is a reflection of a World Heritage city”, explained Gutiérrez.

The second strategic axis is La Laguna plus personal and collective well-being, which, he announced, contemplates the identification of land reserves for the construction of subsidized housing, the creation of a Rental Housing Exchange for young people, the expansion and improvement public educational centers, such as the recovery of the IES Padre Anchieta, or a new Specialized Care Health Center, among others.

The most egalitarian, supportive and inclusive Lagoon is the third axis and includes proposals such as promoting the detection of situations of loneliness of the elderly, the increase in places in Day Centers, the creation of the Canarian Gypsy Sociocultural Center in La Cuesta or the development of plans to combat male violence. In the fourth axis, La Laguna more transparent and participatory, the commitments are aimed at deepening the principles of Open Government, further promoting transparency and including the participation of civil society organizations in political decisions. And finally, the safest Laguna, with the future Local Police station and the increase in its material and human resources or the strengthening of the community policing model, among others. The mayor also recalled the party’s commitment to the future Mesa Mota tunnel and the burying of the TF-5 variant.

“The PSOE program is ambitious because we know that we can continue to grow. They are achievable commitments and I am convinced that we are going to obtain a majority of support”, affirmed Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, who highlighted that 80% of the commitments of 2019 “have been fulfilled, with all the difficulties encountered”, with which, ” in a normal term, if we are not able to meet these 150, I myself will present my resignation as mayor,” he said.
