The coalition candidates United Yes We Canmade up of Podemos Canarias, Izquierda Unida Canaria and Sí Se Puede, have filed a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor for alleged new irregularities in the processing of the construction project of the tourist urbanization Cradle of the Soulin the small port of Adeje, whose works are paralyzed in a precautionary manner.

The candidates have pointed out that from the beginning of the file there are irregularities that threaten the declaration of public interest, such as the lack of justification for the project and the rejection of unfavorable reports from supra-municipal organizations. In addition, they highlight the absence of a correct environmental memory and the lack of consideration towards archaeological sites, among other things.

The candidate for Mayor of Adeje, Gabriel González, has reported that since 2014 there was evidence that the area was conducive to finding archaeological sites, which was not taken into account during the processing and works.

Meanwhile, the candidate for the Presidency of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Manuel Marrero, has expressed his concern about the possibility that the precautionary suspension of the project will be lifted after the next elections and has praised the work carried out by the activists of the small port of Adeje to prevent archaeological destruction and the disappearance of species. In addition, he has urged to comply with environmental legislation and to paralyze a project that does not correspond to the tourism of the future.

The representatives of the coalition have highlighted the need to investigate and paralyze the project, which they consider typical of the “developmentalism of the 60s” and not in accordance with the sustainable tourism model that it seeks to promote. Likewise, they have highlighted the importance of complying with European directives and holding the Adeje City Council and the Cabildo responsible for complying with them.

With this complaint, the coalition closes a circle after the meeting with representatives of the European Commission, in which the need to comply with environmental legislation was confirmed.
