He council proposes to the Arona City Council that it proceed to create the Municipal Council of Historical Heritage to, in collaboration with the Island Corporation, agree on actions and protective measures in terms of conservation, as well as the enhancement of the municipal cultural heritage. Likewise, it urges the Aronero Consistory to study the technical feasibility of including certain elements that have heritage and ethnographic value.
While the municipality of Arona is approving its municipal catalog and launching the Municipal Council, the Cabildo and the City Council “will work in coordination for the short-term protection” of the strip of territory that it covers from the town of Cabo Blanco to the area of Malpasoin the vicinity of the Autopista del Sur (TF-1).
This initiative was rejected by the plenary session of the Aronero City Council. The proposal of the councilor of the Mixed Group, Antonella Aliotti, only had the support of the non-attached councillors, while the PSOE, Partido Popular and Canarian Coalition they voted against.
The councilor raises the Consistory the need to not depend “exclusively” on the Heritage Catalog, for which she proposes that it be provided with “more resources and real and effective tools” that allow real protection. “While this vital tool is being developed, we have to ensure the protection of the territory immediately,” she says.
A solution
María José Belda, a non-attached island councillor, took up the baton from the municipal proposal formulated by Aliotti “because I am convinced that, within the political agenda of this Island for the following decades, it is essential to guarantee that the institutions will work hard to protect our flora, fauna and deposits from possible speculative interests”. In her opinion, the case of the municipality of Arona “is key and fundamental” taking into account the importance of tourism construction.
Belda defends that the objective is to guarantee that work is done to protect flora, fauna and deposits
Belda thanks “the collaboration and good reception of the political groups of the Cabildo”, with a “special” reference to “the will of the insular director of Heritagewhich has actively collaborated so that this proposal becomes institutional and remember that the Cabildo, in coordination with the municipalities, is responsible for ensuring the protection of our land.
