The Cabildo de Tenerife has asked the municipalities of La Laguna, Fasnia, Arico, Granadilla de Abona, San Miguel, Vilaflor de Chasna, Guía de Isora and Tegueste to transfer land for the construction of eight new collection points.

This is the first step to launch this project that will have a total budget of 5.7 million euros, which will also include improving the infrastructure of five of the existing ones, the Cabildo specified in a statement.

90% of the cost of this action will be covered with Next Generation funds for the implementation of waste regulations within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

The implementation of this project is shaped as a strategic action that seeks to bring waste separation closer to the citizens of the island and that is linked to the vocation of the island institution to promote the implementation of a recycling industry in Tenerife.

The Cabildo de Tenerife has various infrastructures spread over various municipalities on the island, such as the Tenerife Environmental Complex, in Arico; four Logistics Centers, located in the municipalities of La Guancha, Villa de La Orotava, Arona and El Rosario; and eight Clean Points, located in Buenavista del Norte, La Guancha, Villa de La Orotava, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Güimar, Arona and Adeje.

To these clean points will be added another eight to be built in Los Rodeos (La Laguna), Las Eras in Fasnia, Tenerife Environmental Complex in Arico, Granadilla de Abona, Las Chafiras in San Miguel, Vilaflor de Chasna, Playa de San Juan in Guide to Isora and Tegueste.

Clean Points are management infrastructures where bulky containers, small debris are collected and, in general, all waste that is not collected by ordinary municipal collection services, but deposited by individuals, such as electrical appliances, IT devices, end-of-life tires, debris and bulky items.
