CC supports Martín “to recover nine million wind farms”

The group of Canarian Coalition in the Town Hall of Tenerife today presents a motion to the plenary session to “support the announced demand of the president, Pedro Martín, to recover the 8.7 million euros lost by the Technological and Renewable Energy Institute (ITER) due to the stoppage of the Areté and The rock”. These infrastructures stopped working in August 2022 due to a breakdown, which, according to the calculations of the nationalists, has caused ITER to lose this amount until February of this year.

The Areté and La Roca wind farms have a capacity of 18.4 MW and 16.7 MW, respectively, and came into operation in 2019. On August 8, 2022, after repeated incidents and shots in the transformer that evacuates energy, both were stopped and disconnected from the transport network. This has produced a loss of profit for ITER.

The CC group demanded in two plenary sessions that the Cabildo initiate the procedures to claim the amounts from the persons or entities responsible for said losses. The nationalists assure that there is a 2021 ITER report that considers it unnecessary “for the company to hire the maintenance of the transformer station.” That lack of maintenance could have been the reason for the breakdown.

Martín blames the Institute

The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, has indicated on several occasions that the responsibility does not lie with ITER, but with a company and that it would initiate the pertinent legal actions to compensate the patrimonial damage. Canary Coalition now presents this motion to support the possible legal complaint of the Island Corporation.

This situation continued until December 3 of last year, when it was reconnected to the transport position. Two days later, on December 5, the start-up of the parks began again. Normalization occurred gradually in the first three months of this year. The breakdown and consequent paralysis of the parks has meant that during this time they have not generated energy. In addition to environmental damage, there has been a patrimonial loss, says CC.

The production estimate, according to data published by ITER up to February, includes a total energy loss of 36,689 MW, which would have meant revenue of approximately 8.7 million euros. The CC motion also wants to “recognize and support the work developed since its inception by ITER professionals, which has led the company to the highest levels of international recognition.”

Canary Coalition presents another motion to today’s insular plenary session. The last of the term. Marathon runner, with 90 points, and actually, in a double session. Before there is another extraordinary on budget fringes. In its proposal, CC defends the labor rights of the professionals of the Hoteles Escuela de Canary Islands (Hecansa).

The nationalists propose that the Cabildo urge to “unblock the negotiation of the new collective agreement and that a satisfactory agreement be reached.” Also to comply with “what is established by the Labor and Social Security Inspectorate, in order to regularize the situation and avoid discrimination between workers who perform the same functions and professional categories.”

Illustrious sons and migrants

The spokesman for Ciudadanos in the Cabildo, Enrique Arriaga, will propose in today’s plenary session to grant the distinction of Illustrious Son of the Island to the engineer Carlos Cólogan and the musician Diego Navarro. In addition, the non-attached counselor, María José Belda, proposes the extraordinary regularization of migrants and creating shelter resources for women victims of sexist violence and their pets. The PP is committed to the debate on the third lane of the TF-5 and Sí Podemos advocates the coastline of La Punta. | JDM
