This weekend the leading role will be festivals in Santa Cruz, since a series of festivals are celebrated in honor of the Holy Cross, Our Lady of Begoña and San José Obrero. These celebrations are part of the patron saint festivities that are taking place in various neighborhoods of the city, specifically in La Gallega, Almáciga and Catalanes.

Fun and revelry are guaranteed in this weekend of festivals in Santa Cruz. The recreational activities will begin this Saturday, April 29, thanks to the collaboration of the capital’s City Council through the Autonomous Organization for Fiestas and Recreational Activities (OAFAR), in conjunction with the Southwest and Anaga districts.

The activities will begin at 8:00 p.m. with the election of the Children and Youth Queen in Plaza de la Gallega, organized by the Guacimara de la Gallega Neighborhood Association, located on Bigüipala street. Later, at 11:00 p.m., the Youth Party will begin with a performance by DJ Swank, DJ Wes and Renzzo the Selector.

On Sunday, April 30, at 8:00 p.m., the Gala for the Election of the Adult Queen will be held, followed by the traditional popular festival in which the Revelation and Saoco orchestras will perform.

On Monday, May 1, starting at 5:00 p.m., the children’s day will take place with face painting, inflatables and the projection of a film in the open air, perfect for the little ones to enjoy and have fun.

On Wednesday, May 3, on the occasion of the Day of the Cross, there will be an exhibition of the cross made with natural flowers that will participate in the municipal contest at 8:00 a.m., followed by a mass at 7:00 p.m. and a procession along the usual route.

The Nuestra Señora de Begoña de Almáciga Neighborhood Association also has its festive program for this weekend. On Saturday 29 at 10:00 p.m. there will be a religious celebration followed by a procession accompanied by the Banda Amigos del Arte de San Andrés through the main streets of this enclave of Anaga. After the procession, there will be a fireworks display and a great popular festival enlivened by the Acapulco Orchestra.

On Sunday, April 30, at 1:00 p.m., there will be a mass sung by the Payba folkloric group, followed by a procession along the usual route that will conclude with a fireworks display. At 5:00 p.m. the Verbena de Tarde will begin in the Plaza de Nuestra Señora de Begoña enlivened by the La Clase Aparte orchestra. On Monday, May 1, from 4:00 p.m. it will be the turn for the children’s day with a Foam Party.

On Saturday, May 6, at 12:00 noon, there will be an Envite Tournament and from 8:00 pm the meeting of folkloric groups, in which Malvasía de Taganana, among others, will participate. At 11:00 p.m. the popular festival will begin, enlivened by the groups La Calle and Los Concejales, which will last until 04:00 a.m.

The Los Catalanes Neighborhood Association also has its festive program for this weekend. As of Monday, May 1, from 10:00 a.m., the festive program organized by the Los Catalanes Neighborhood Association will take place. The day will begin with a mass that will be held in the hermitage of San José at 12:00, followed by the tasting of a paella for all attendees.

At 1:30 p.m., the folkloric group Roque Negro will perform at the event, giving way to a popular festival that will last until 10:00 p.m. and in which José Manuel Hernández, Víctor Déniz and La Clase Aparte will perform. For children, a multi-activity workshop is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.

With these celebrations, the residents of Santa Cruz de Tenerife will be able to enjoy a weekend full of fun and entertainment in the company of their family and friends. In addition, the collaboration of the capital’s City Council through the Autonomous Organization for Festivals and Recreational Activities (OAFAR) guarantees the organization and development of the festivities in a safe and controlled environment.

It is important to note that these activities promote the culture and folklore of the region, since folkloric groups will perform and religious processions will take place, in honor of the tradition and customs of the island of Tenerife.

The presence of DJ Swank, DJ Wes and Renzzo the Selector at the Youth Party, as well as the performance of the Revelation and Saoco orchestras at the popular festival, ensure fun and entertainment for young people and adults who attend these events.

The fireworks display and the presentations by the Acapulco Orchestra, La Clase Aparte, La Calle and Los Concejales will undoubtedly be unforgettable moments for attendees of all ages.

In addition, carrying out the children’s day with face painting, inflatables and film screening, guarantees fun and entertainment for the youngest members of the family, who will also have the opportunity to participate in the Foam Party.
