Connectivity, sustainability projects, digitization, Next Generation funds and measures before the new Housing Law are the main demands of the national and European hospitality sector to the Government, taking advantage of the participation of the Secretary of State for Tourism in the inauguration of the 86th General Assembly of Hotrec, European employers’ association of the sector. Event that brings together some 100 industry leaders from 35 EU countries. Adeje and Tenerife They thus stand for three days (until today) as a meeting point for 46 European sectoral associations to address the present and future of the sector.
The event was inaugurated by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosana Morillo, and the presidents of Hotrec, Ashotel and Cehat and Hospitality of Spain, Alexandros Vassilikos, Jorge Marichal and José Luis Yzuel, respectively.
During his speech, Morillo offered his collaboration to the sector. «We lend a hand to continue working together as in recent years. We are not in easy times and continuous effort is essential, “he said. In line with this, he called for taking advantage of the forum to “join efforts and face the upcoming challenges, such as increasing the attractiveness of the industry to bring staff closer or recovering the prestige and reputation of the sector.”
Marichal alluded to the fact that this meeting reflects “the importance of Spain as a tourist destination and as an active member of the European hospitality industry” and that it is “a wonderful opportunity to show the strength of the Spanish tourism sector before representatives of the industry from all over the continent ». He coincided with Morillo in the unit “to ensure the environmental, economic and social sustainability of the sector, move towards excellence in our services and guarantee the satisfaction of our clients”.
Vassilikos also referred to innovation, which “has been crucial in our business to face and solve problems and is redefining the business. We have to support and invest in technology, transform the image of our sector in the long term and we have many possibilities for growth”.
Yzuel insisted that there are “many duties ahead, we have to work for this sector that is pulling the car, it is pulling the Spanish economy.”
The conclave ends today with a technical seminar on tourism sustainability at the Technological Institute for Renewable Energies (ITER), an international benchmark research center in renewable energy, engineering, telecommunications, the environment and genomics.
