SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 28 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The municipality of Granadilla de Abona (Tenerife) hosts the ‘MUNDO SOS III’ national days of modernization, organized by the Spanish Red Cross, for its human teams that day after day provide service in the field of aquatic rescue, thus generating a meeting point for all the personnel that are part of the accident prevention, lifesaving and assistance service on beaches, and maritime rescue.
This is the third edition after having passed Chiclana de la Frontera (Cádiz) in 2019 and later, in 2021, which due to the Covid-19 pandemic had to be held online. It is expected to have the presence of fifty people, including instructors and participants, who will come from different parts of Spain.
The objective of this initiative, which is organized every two years, is to publicize how the Red Cross aquatic rescue teams are prepared and updated to save lives and face the next beach campaign that starts all over the national coast in the best possible way. in June, with the beginning of summer.
As Miguel Ángel Sánchez Arrocha, national manager of the Spanish Red Cross Beach Service, points out, “the main reason for having chosen El Médano as the setting for this third edition is because this area welcomes many water sportsmen, such as kitesurfing, windsurfing, etc., and we want to deepen rescue techniques with people who practice it”.
“Rescue techniques must be specific for these people because the sails, the board, the ropes… are accessories that rescuers must take into account when approaching the person who needs help because it can make the action difficult”, added.
On this occasion, ‘MUNDO SOS III’ will focus on the profiles of skippers of boats and jet skis and the coordination staff of aquatic rescue services.
Within the framework of these conferences, various theoretical workshops have been scheduled (they will be taught in a classroom that will be set up at the Hotel Médano) and practical ones (which will be held on the beach of El Médano and surroundings), where the participants will go going through each of the scenarios, in order to increase experience and knowledge, in addition to working on other aspects related to the construction and consolidation of teams.
Some of the most interesting and visual practical activities, planned within the program, will take place this Saturday afternoon, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., on El Médano beach. Various workshops related to intervention in rescues with jet skis and boats will be held, in environments where the different dangerous situations in which they will carry out their work will be analyzed.
