Treita and five candidates aspire to become Queen of the May Festival this Friday

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 27 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Plaza de La Candelaria hosts this Friday the Gala for the Election of the Queen of the May Festival, which will have a total of 35 candidates representing different groups, recreational or charitable societies, as well as non-profit entities, associations of residents and companies located in the municipality.

The Gala, with free and open access, has been organized by the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, through the Autonomous Organization for Fiestas and Recreational Activities (OAFAR), will begin at 9:00 p.m. and will be directed by Javier Caraballero.

Presented by Elvis Sanfiel, it will feature the performance of the Spanish representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, Blanca Paloma. Chago Melián, Efecto Pasillo, Nauzet, Belinda Falcón, Virginia Guantanamera and comedian Darío López will also perform.

The 35 candidates will parade dressed in typical Canarian costume and the jury that will appoint the new Queen of the founding festivities will be made up of Ana del Mar Rodríguez, a textile technician in traditional Canarian clothing from Tenerife; Manuela Jurado, artisan of traditional Canarian clothing from La Gomera; Dolores Castañeda, artisan and dressmaker of traditional Canarian clothing from El Hierro; María del Carmen Felipe, artisan in traditional costumes and dressmaker from La Palma; Josefa Bravo de Laguna, the artisan of the FEDAC, in traditional Canarian clothing from Gran Canaria; Ricardo Jesús Reguera, researcher of traditional Canarian clothing from Lanzarote; and Inmaculada Montserrat Suárez, tailor and artisan of traditional Canarian clothing from Fuerteventura.

The program of the May Festivities will continue this Saturday with the Gala for the Election of the Children’s Magician and Magician, to which a total of 15 minors, 10 girls and 5 boys, aspire and which will begin at 7:00 p.m. on the same stage of the Plaza de La Candelaria with a show conducted by the Timaginas Teatro company and with performances by the folkloric group Achimagec and Mario Falero.
