Agents of the National Policein a joint operation with the Civil Guard that begins in April 2022, they detect that a historic criminal organization made up of a family clan of Colombian origin, has returned to activity in Tenerife.
The investigative agents begin a close surveillance, which allows them to discover the modus operandi used by the organization, this being through human couriers, for the transport of cocaine from South America.
Once the organization had the substance at the main airports of the Peninsula, they distributed it throughout the national territory. For transport to the Canary Islands, They used another important criminal organization originating in the Islands and whose main members were settled on the island of Gran Canaria.
Another organization carried out the distribution in the Canary Islands
This second organization, to transport the substances to the Canary Islands, used both human couriers by air, and vehicles modified with cavities manufactured to hide the substanceallowing a huge number of trips by sea between the peninsula and the capital islands, reaching more than 30 vehicles at the disposal of the criminal network.
As a result of the research work, during the months of June and July, the first two interventions are carried out, in which more than 5 and 12 kilograms of cocaine were seizedin Gran Canaria and Tenerife respectivelyand for which two of the main members of the network and a historic drug trafficker from Tenerife were arrested.
Another of the interventions occurred at the beginning of December, the acting Units detained two human couriers at the Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas airport, carrying more than 17 and 4 kilograms of high-purity cocaine respectively, the first upon arrival from South America and the second when he was preparing to travel to the Canary Islands.
In the month of January 2023, the fifth and last intervention was carried out, this time in the Puerto de la Luz in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where they were apprehended more than 14 kilograms of cocaine that was transported by sea from Huelvaone of the members of the organization, hidden from one of the vehicles he had.
Exploitation phase with seven records
As a direct consequence of this action, the exploitation phase of the operation is carried out, in which seven records were made in the provinces of Santa Cruz of Tenerife, The Gran Canarian palmsMadrid, Toledo and Malaga.
It ends with the total disarticulation of both organizations, proceeding to the arrest of 12 of its members, as well as the total apprehension of 54 kilograms of cocaineand the intervention of 5 modified vehicles with cavities prepared for the transport of substance and more than 75,000 euros in cash.
