SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 25 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife and the Red Cross have formalized an addendum to the current agreement through which training and training programs are established for volunteers who perform functions related to assistance work, safety and risk prevention or emergency care.

This addendum, which contemplates the teaching of 20 specific courses, will have a budget of 29,906 euros that will be provided by the Island Council.

The Spanish Red Cross is an entity specialized in emergencies and volunteer management, and trained to provide its own and third-party training, face-to-face and online, non-regulated, continuous and occupational, so the NGO will be in charge of plan and manage said training offer.

In this way, the Cabildo de Tenerife is aware of the importance of promoting and organizing volunteer activity, promoting their training, guaranteeing their safety, specifying the activities and actions that they can develop and achieving an adequate integration within the framework of the management of emergencies, all bearing in mind that due to the very nature of the activities they may carry out, they are exposed to greater risks than those derived from the performance of activities in other areas of social interest.

With this, this newly signed addendum indicates that the Red Cross will give courses for emergency responders in seven months, and they will take place in three points located in the metropolitan area, southern area and northern area. In the metropolitan area they will be taught at the Canary Islands Emergency Logistics Center, in the southern area at the headquarters of the Red Cross in Güímar and in the northern area at various locations: the Red Cross in Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava and Tacoronte. .

The courses that will be taught will be: Basic First Aid; The Public Civil Protection System in the Canary Islands. Territorial Plans and Special Plans; Traffic and Road Safety oriented to the functions of Civil Protection; Communication Management in Emergency Situations; Basic Communications Use of DMR/Tetra; Basic Course on fire theory and use of Fire Extinguishers and equipped Fire Hydrants (BIEs); Volunteer Management; Use of Chainsaw; Basic life support and Semiautomatic External Defibrillator (DESA); Initial Care for the Patient, Polytraumatized; Basic Course in Logistics in Civil Protection; Basic Course in Control of Severe Bleeding (use of the Professional Tourniquet); Use and maintenance of water machinery; Use and maintenance of generator sets and lighting; Coordination of Device Operations in public shows; Telecommunications in Coordination Centers and Command Posts; Fire-fighting measures in the development of public shows; Driving 4×4 vehicles; Basic course on forest fires: operations, self-protection, procedures and use of material resources.
