SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 22 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Canary Islands Coalition (CC) has assumed a “firm and clear” commitment to the present and future of the North of Tenerife to carry out a series of infrastructures and actions with the aim of revitalizing this area of the island in the face of “abandonment and paralysis to which the PSOE has subjected its neighbors”.
“Four years lost due to the negligence and abandonment of the socialist governments in the Cabildo de Tenerife and in the Canarian Executive with this part of the island of Tenerife,” denounced the nationalists.
According to the party, CC wanted to make clear its “clear and resounding” commitment to promote an “authentic and complete” Hospital del Norte, the Tren del Norte, the closure of the island ring, the Puerto de la Cruz Dock, alleviate the traffic jams on the TF-5, avoid depopulation with the activation of employment plans, the recovery of the ANSINA program, the start-up of 820 socio-sanitary places for the elderly and people with disabilities, reactivate the Puerto de la Cruz Rehabilitation Consortium and the defense of the Teide National Park, among other projects.
In this regard, the candidate for the Presidency of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, assured that “our Canary Islands Coalition project would not be understood without a firm commitment to the municipalities, that is, to the citizens who live in the North of Tenerife”.
“And today more than ever this commitment is necessary in view of the situation of abandonment suffered by the north of Tenerife due to the laziness of the PSOE both in the Cabildo and in the Government,” he lamented.
Here, he wondered what the result has been. “Four lost years for the municipalities of the north of Tenerife -he said-, whose neighbors have to see every day how they lack the same number of public services and of the same quality as in other regions of this island or in other places from other islands”, denounced the nationalist candidate.
For this reason, Clavijo asserted that the North of Tenerife needs to promote important infrastructures such as the extensions of the Hospital del Norte and the Puerto de la Cruz Dock.
“The abandonment of the northern region – he continued – can be seen in a clear example of what the Hospital is like, which we left prepared and today with facilities that remain closed. Many deficiencies in these four years that have been wasted, four years lost for the citizens of the north of Tenerife”.
Hence, the CC candidate assumed a commitment to complete the work defined and in execution of the past term in the hospital and open the four operating rooms, providing the hospital with functional tests of specialties, endoscopies, cardiology and pneumology; putting oncological treatments into operation, providing it with a laboratory and an acute admission area, in addition to expanding the area of Major Ambulatory Surgery that is already taking place, but with a low level of complexity and providing it with a major ambulatory surgery unit.
Regarding the Dock project in Puerto de la Cruz, Clavijo assured that “we have a project and commitment to make the maritime park and dock that Puerto de la Cruz deserves a reality.”
He stressed here that “the PSOE paralyzed the project in 2019 when it arrived at the Cabildo. And we asked that the roadmap for the development of the fishing, sports, commercial and tourist port of Puerto de la Cruz, signed in 2016, continue.”
“We asked that the financing of 72 million euros planned for the development of the pier be maintained, and that they ask the Government of the Canary Islands for the 20.6 million euros that had been committed in the previous mandate for the construction of this port infrastructure. The response of the PSOE, Podemos and Ciudadanos was to vote against our proposal and the result is the total stoppage of the project. Our commitment is to make a reality the new fishing, sports, commercial and tourist port that Puerto de la Cruz deserves “.
Finally, Clavijo launched another compromise with the North. “That residents who live in any of the northern municipalities have the same opportunities as Canarians in other regions and on other islands. CC believes in a country of 8 islands with the same treatment and that they complement each other from their diversity. In essence, that the north of Tenerife recovers the path of development with a balanced present and future project, regardless of the municipality of origin of each one”, he declared.
