The city council presents the program of events on the occasion of the “CRUX23” event

The Santiago del Teide City Council has announced the schedule of events for the new edition of the “CRUX23” event that takes place on the occasion of the Day of the Cross, and which will have the town of Tamaimo as its epicenter from April 24 to April 5. of May.

The activities will begin this Monday, April 24 and Tuesday, April 25 with the Crux23 cooking workshop that will take place at the Tamaimo Social Center from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. On April 28, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Plaza Santa Ana de Tamaimo, the program of events will be inaugurated with the musical show “Vuelta al Origen” by José Manuel Ramos.

On Saturday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., “CruXarte Tamaimo, Un Paseo de Arte” will be held, a route that will go through the squares where the ephemeral exhibition of crosses and compositions by island artists takes place. For each of the art routes it is necessary to register in advance by calling 922-86-31-27 ext 113 and/or 300. The places where the activity takes place are as follows:

* CruXarte Floral in Santa Ana square.

* CruXarte Recycling in Abelardo González square.

* CruXarte Author in Alberto Trujillo square.

On April 30, starting at 08:00 in the morning, the Ruta de la Cruz guided by the Grupo de Senderistas La Cruz takes place. On May 2 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. aimed at children and from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for an adult audience there will be a “Floral Cross Creation Workshop” to be held at the Social Center of Tamaimo.

On May 3, from 10:00 a.m., a visit will be made by the jury appointed for this purpose to the crosses participating in the “Ornate Crosses on Facades Contest 2023”. Starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Plaza Santa Ana de Tamaimo, the decision of the jury of the crosses contest will be read, which will feature a stellar performance by “Los Sabandeños”. Subsequently, a Leg Cutting Workshop and tasting will be held in the same square with master cutter Fran Alonso.

On May 4 from 5:00 p.m. at the Tamaimo Social Center, the Heritage Days “Senses and Discernments of the Cross” will be held, which will be attended by Manuel Jesús Hernández González, art historian who will give a talk entitled ” La Cruz de Mayo: Feast and Devotion in the Canary Islands”.

On May 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Tamaimo Social Center, the closing ceremony and awards ceremony of the crosses contest will take place in which Víctor Estárico and Belinda Falcón will perform with their musical show “Violetas”.

In addition, the Boca-Tapa Crux will take place from April 24 to May 3, in which 4 catering establishments from the town of Tamaimo will participate, offering their tapas at the price of 4 euros, including a glass of Barlia Rosé wine.
