The Canary Islands register more than 1,400 calls for gender violence

As for Lanzarote, the month of March 2023 has been the month with the most recorded incidents, with a total of 114 calls received, almost double that of the previous month and 39% more than in March of the previous year. Furthermore, the city of Reef has been the one that has registered the most calls, with a total of 71, followed by YaizaSaint Bartome, aunts and Teguise. Regarding the type of incident, most calls were for non-physical violence, followed by physical violence without sexual assault.

The total data shows an increase in the number of calls received at the Service for Attention to Women and Victims of Gender Violence in the Canary Islands, with a greater number of incidents registered in Lanzarote during the month of March 2023. The city of Arrecife has been the one that has registered the most calls on the island.
