The Portuense Citizen Assembly (ACP) publicly presented this Saturday the twenty people who will accompany the candidate for Mayor of Puerto de la Cruz, David Hernández, in the formation’s candidacy for the local elections on May 28.
In an act held at the Riu Garoé hotel and led by former councilors Yaiza González and Jonás González, the Assembly released a list with three women in the top five positions: the current councilor María Jesús Hernández (2), Tatiana Rodríguez ( 4) and Lares Montes de Oca (5). In number 3 the also councilor Alberto Cabo will repeat.
At the end of March, the Portuense Citizen Assembly held primaries open to the public to choose the ten people who will accompany the candidate for mayor, David Hernández, in the first part of the list -elected, also in open primaries, in the month of December-. The second part of the board was chosen in an assembly held after the vote.
The head of the list, David Hernández, has a degree in Pedagogy and a Master’s Degree in Drug Addiction, and an Advanced Studies Diploma in Sociology. He is a professor of Vocational Training and Labor Counselor, as well as director and training coordinator of employment workshops, workshop-schools and training programs in alternation with employment.
He has belonged to various youth, sports, social, educational and neighborhood groups in Puerto de la Cruz. In May 2015, he headed the ACP list for the municipal elections and, since that date, he has been a councilor and spokesman for the formation in the City Council. Since 2019, he is also second deputy mayor and councilor for the Sustainable City areas (which includes urban planning, environment and industry, among others) and Human Resources.
During the presentation, Hernández highlighted that the candidacy of the Assembly reflects the diversity of the Porto society, with representation from a good part of the neighborhoods and areas of the municipality and from different sectors of activity. Likewise, he stressed that more than half of the list – eleven of the twenty-one people – is renewed with respect to the candidacy presented four years ago.
Number 2, María Jesús Hernández, is a Vocational Training teacher at the IES María Pérez Trujillo and has participated in different neighborhood, social, cultural and educational groups in the municipality. Since June 2019, she has been a councilor for the Democratic Development area, which covers the areas of Employment, Citizen Participation, Transparency and New Technologies.
Alberto Cabo, third on the list, is an entrepreneur in the field of financial and accounting services, and coordinator of sports clubs both on the island and on the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. Since 2019 he has been a councilor for Sports, Health, Beaches, Transportation, Health and Consumption in the Porto City Council.
The fourth candidate, Tatiana Rodríguez, has a degree in Pedagogy with complementary training in equality, teaching and employment. She has more than ten years of experience as an employment and training technician, and currently coordinates projects aimed at the labor integration of people in vulnerable situations.
Lares Montes de Oca, number 5, graduated in Psychology with a master’s degree in health psychology. She is specialized in the psychological support of people with intellectual disabilities, a sector in which she develops her professional activity.
Oliver Medina, who ranks sixth, is a graduate in Pedagogy. He has experience in the service sector and has worked as a teacher in non-regulated training projects with the elderly, to raise awareness about migration and addiction prevention.
The list is completed by Celia Barroso (7), Vicente Romero (8), Benedicta Von Levetzow (9), Giovanni García (10), Carmelo Yanes (11), Tindaya López (12), Iñaki Felones (13), Majda Boutaba (14 ), Jorge Gómez (15), Mª Teresa Pérez (16), Gonzalo Luque (17), José Ángel Martín (18), Rosa Elena González (19), Pepo Lasso (20) and Fátima González (21).
