The Governing Council of the Cabildo de Tenerife, chaired by Pedro Martín, approved yesterday the contracting file for the works to renew the sewerage network in Valleseco, in Santa Cruz, with a base tender budget of 2,769,060 euros. Infrastructures that have become obsolete will be replaced in order to improve the provision of public service to the people who reside in this neighborhood of the capital of Tenerife so that they can have an adequate sanitation system.

The investment is included in the 2018-2021 Municipal Cooperation Plan and will be 50% financed by the Cabildo and the City Council. The company that is awarded the contract will have a period of 24 months to carry out the works.

Specifically, it will act in 11 streets, Reverend Onésimo, Juan Silvestre, José Batán, Manuel Lomo, Pedro Delgado, Antonio Saro, Enrique Lara, Rafael Soto, Escaleras Barranco, Peatonal Barranquillo and section 1 of Fernández Vega, in which the complete renovation of the sanitation network will be carried out.

The works include the replacement of the water supply network and the construction of a rainwater network, while a spillway will be installed to avoid overloading the town’s water collector. In total, the work will leave in the town 305 linear meters of sewage network renewed; 569 meters of the rainwater network created; 1,279 meters of improved sanitation network, and 2,625 meters of supply network.

For the president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, this is a very important work for the residents of Valleseco, with which a solution will be found to the historical problem caused by the current infrastructures, which are completely obsolete. “We will proceed to improve a service that we consider essential for the well-being of the population,” he said.

According to the data collected in the project, there will be 250 homes that will benefit from this action, which means benefiting some 672 inhabitants.

Martín highlights “the collaboration of the Cabildo with all the municipalities in terms of new infrastructure, equipment and public services, of which in Santa Cruz we find examples such as Parque de Las Mesas, Playa de Valleseco, the rehabilitation of homes in Añaza or the project of the inclusive park of Santa Catalina, in La Gallega”.

Saint Andrew

On the other hand, the Cabildo will also collaborate with the Santa Cruz City Council in the renewal of another sewerage network, the one that affects the hillside of San Andrés and that of Benito Pérez Armas avenue through the Municipal Cooperation Plan; in this case, the program approved for 2022-2025.

For the execution of these works, an economic item of 3,736,440 euros will be allocated (2,569,880 euros for the works in San Andrés and 1,166,560 euros for Benito Pérez Armas avenue), to also finance 50% between the Island Corporation and the City Council.

The placement of the bathing platforms on the coast begins

The work on the puddles in Valleseco is entering its final stage, with the preparation of the walkways and the beginning of the placement of the bathing platforms. Yesterday you could already see the poles that will hold these solarium spaces in the middle of the water, which are included in the Sun and Shadow project.
