The mayor of Güímar, the nationalist Gustavo Pérez, spoke yesterday about the full municipal held last Thursday, which he had to suspend due to the heated reproach, including insults, from his fellow government officials to Francisco Hernández Armas, mayor of the Popular Party, when he named relatives of Airam Puerta.

“This tension, in which some people go too far in the plenary hall, is inadmissible and we must call for coherence, in this regard and for education. I do not blame anyone, nor name anyone, because the institution has to be above personalities, ”he said.

Regarding the file of an alleged improper charge by an engineer to a construction company for a sanitation work in Fátima for 2.7 million euros, the mayor pointed out that “when there are doubts, you have to take it to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and we have done that.” “Everyone has to play their role, we cannot start assuming things, but rather wait for the prosecutor to decide. We have done what we have to do, take the file and the information that the City Council has to the Prosecutor’s Office. A criminal complaint against the engineer? If in the course of this investigation other issues are detected, we will take the agreed and verified steps that are necessary, ”he stressed.

On the role of the municipal secretary, questioned by some government councilors, when he asked that the former mayor Puerta not be the administrator of the Electronic Platform, Pérez commented: “Everyone has to have their role, the politician to do politics, the secretary to make reports and the officials to write up the files, when each one does not know where the problems come from. The secretary will have to take over the report; she will set the legal limit”.
