Everything is ready in the urban area of Adeje for the representation of La Pasión, the play starring more than 300 residents that was born spontaneously in 1996 at the initiative of a group of residents and has established itself as one of the great signs identity of the municipality and the southern region.

After several months of work and assemblies, and days and nights of rehearsals, the amateur actors and actresses, with the support of the technical and logistical staff, will stage tomorrow, Good Friday, the last hours of Jesus of Nazareth in the Plaza de la Cruz del Llano, where the last supper with which the work begins will take place, Calle Grande and Plaza de España, where it will end with the crucifixion, the culminating moment of the performance, in front of the imposing Barranco del Infierno.

One of the novelties this year will be the incorporation of the scene of the expulsion of the merchants from the temple, in which a different and more intense Jesus can be seen, represented by the actor Ignacio de La Lastra. As in previous years, there will be no shortage of famous biblical passages such as the trial of Pontius Pilate, the meeting with Judas or the prayer in the Huerto de Los Olivos, among others.

In addition to Ignacio de la Lastra, who takes over from José Antonio López after 15 years playing Jesus Christ, Ana Oneida Borges (Virgin Mary), Sonnibel Mendoza (María de Cleofás), Gabriele Zizzi (Saint John) and Ania Gonzalez (Maria Magdalena). La Pasión, lasting two hours, will be broadcast nationally by 13 Televisión and on an island scale by Televisión Canaria, Mírame TV and Canal 4.

In addition to this floral display of ephemeral art, Easter offers visitors concerts, contemporary dance, painting exhibitions, and a photo marathon. The City Council will organize today and tomorrow guided tours aimed at professionals in the municipality’s tourism sector.

Carlos Curbelo, director of the exhibition, underlines the growth that Easter has experienced in floral art and in other artistic disciplines and its external projection. “It has aroused the interest of prominent artists from the Canary Islands and from all over the country who want to participate for the first time or want to repeat the experience.”
