The Council of Tenerife develops two help lines for a global amount of 720,000 euros. One of them, through the area of Employment and Socioeconomic Development, is aimed at business development (320,000 euros) and another, from Agriculture, favors the fight against the effects of the Guatemalan moth in the agricultural subsector of potatoes (400,000).
Until the 19th, the period to request aid for the implementation of projects to improve competitiveness, innovation and business cooperation that affect one or several economic sectors will remain open. Business associations, federations or confederations of the Island may attend. The beneficiary projects must focus on digital transformation, the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) or the implementation of management improvements. The maximum amount of the subsidy is 50,000 euros per project.
Among the actions to be financed is training, advice and consultancy whose objective is to improve the competitiveness of the participating companies, which must promote projects whose duration will range between four and 12 months.
Initiatives aimed at the self-employed and micro-SMEs will be prioritized. The bases establish that at least 20% of the recipients of each beneficiary project must be self-employed and of these, 70% will participate in all actions. Likewise, projects focused on the self-employed in industry and crafts, in which 50% of the participants are individual entrepreneurs or companies owned mostly by women, will be valued. Initiatives led by entities that have at least three years of experience in implementing similar actions will also receive a higher score.
In order for the projects to have the greatest possible scope from a territorial point of view, the bases determine that 40% of its participants are located in a municipality other than that of the association that promotes it.
agroecological practices
The other line of aid affects the potato subsector, which promotes agroecological practices that minimize damage from the Guatemalan potato moth and improve the quality of cultivation soils on the island. With 400,000 euros, it tries to encourage the practice of crop rotation and finance the purchase of phytosanitary products included in integrated pest management, the release of natural enemies in the plantations through a specialized company, and the removal of affected potatoes. for its removal.
Natural or legal persons who own farms (located more than 300 meters above sea level) with a minimum area of 2,000 square meters planted and registered in the General Registry of Agricultural Production (Regepa) may benefit from the aid.
Minister Javier Parrilla recalls that “this year we will also allocate 140,000 euros to reinforce the management of the collection of potatoes affected by Guatemalan moths” and that the Cabildo “will pay 20 cents for each kilo of potatoes with moths that the producers deliver to us.”
