After the abrupt departure of the PSOE and after a mandate marked by the breakup of the Aronero government group, Dácil León heads the list of a new political project.

-What objectives is set by More for Arona on 28M?

“We aspire to a change in the municipality. Our neighbors placed their trust in us at the time and now we want to renew that commitment. We are the alternative and we want to be a close government”.

-There has been much talk about a possible alliance between Más por Arona and Casimiro Curbelo’s ASG, but it has not yet materialized…

“We are still in talks. For us, the ASG model in La Gomera is good, because it responds to the needs of the citizens. There is a good relationship and our idea is to materialize that agreement. In the next few weeks we will be able to know something.”

-Will the six councilors who, like you, have left the PSOE, accompany you on the list?

“Yeah. But, beyond my colleagues, there are many people from all neighborhoods who support us.”

-What projects do you consider to be priorities for Arona?

“We need a city model and that means approving a general plan that will be difficult in the medium and short term. We have to provide solutions to many families who suffer urban situations that they cannot solve. But we also have many shortcomings in services and facilities”.

-I imagine that the first objective of the next mandate in Arona is to make it less turbulent than this one…

“Obviously. We have had a bad time and all this discomfort created has affected the people of Arona. We have to correct that mistake. When all this broke down we tried to find a solution and the party made a decision and we respect it. Then a series of nonsense was unleashed.

-Did you feel cheated by the PSOE?

“Yes of course. It is that it cannot be denied. We were given instructions that we always strictly abide by and, suddenly, we found ourselves with a dagger in our backs. But honestly, I wasn’t surprised.”

-Because?

“From what I had seen for months. When we made the decision to leave the PSOE we felt a great relief”.

-Before, it was almost certain that you would be the candidate of the PSOE in 2023…

“And not by my choice.”

-If the circumstances were given, would you rule out a pact with the PSOE after 28M or would you be willing to sit down?

“I understand that in the current circumstances we are not going to agree with José Julián Mena.”

-From the government group you are accused of blocking very important projects in plenary sessions to improve the quality of life of the residents of Arona…

“They lie, that is very easy to say. It is as simple as going to each of the plenary sessions and seeing how many we have voted against. Many of them also had empty content. What we do not enter into is the game of deceiving the population”.

-And don’t you think that the climate of political anger that has been experienced in Arona in recent years can further increase the percentage of abstention, which in 2019 exceeded 62%?

“When it comes to articulating a speech, it is difficult to convince the neighbor that things can change. We sold that idea and we have not been able to achieve it due to the extraordinary circumstances that have been experienced. But it is the best moment to demand a change”.

-With what message do you intend to excite the electorate?

“Arona deserves more. People know us and know that we understand politics from close to the citizen. We defend the general interest”.

-The Provincial Court has agreed with the mayor and the municipal secretary by withdrawing the point from the agenda on their pass to the group of non-attached.

“It is a resolution with certain doubts, they see signs that something was not done correctly, but they understand that there is not enough evidence. Now we want to look forward.”
