The Governing Council of the Municipal Urban Planning Management approved this Thursday the file that will allow the opening rate of businesses of less than 200 meters that open in Santa Cruz to be discounted to 100%, which represents 70% of the total number of those that start its activity in the capital. This file is the one that will allow the Treasury Department, in turn, to modify the Fiscal Ordinance of the Right of Opening so that the bonus enters into force in the shortest possible time. And it is that this modification was announced in July of last year, with the intention that the bonus would come into force on January 1, something that can now be activated.

Thus, as explained by the first deputy mayor and Town Planning councilor, Guillermo Díaz Guerra, once the Governing Council learned of the report that endorses the modification of the ordinance, it will now be transferred to the Treasury service to continue the approval file of the punctual modification of that Tax Ordinance of the Right of Opening, in all its procedures, in relation to the partial suspension proposed for annoying and innocuous activities less than or equal to 200 meters, for a period of 12 months from its final approval and regulatory update. The measure was announced in July of last year, and since then, Urban Planning has been looking for a way to adapt this bonus agreed by the Government team to urban regulations, and agreed between the Treasury, Juan José Martínez, and Guillermo areas. Diaz Guerra.

In this way, as soon as the Treasury completes the process of modifying the corresponding ordinance, those entrepreneurs who want to start an activity in the capital during 2023 will not pay fees for the opening license, which will mean savings of around 300,000 euros per year. for promoters of business initiatives in the city.

tax savings

The set of measures introduced by the Santa Cruz City Council in the last two terms represent tax savings of more than 11 million euros for families and SMEs. Thus, this bonus for the opening fee comes in addition to others, such as the increase in the bonus for direct debit of receipts, up to 5% of the amount, which has come into force this year, and which is intended to be a saving for families and the self-employed, who already enjoy others such as the reductions in the garbage rate that came into force in 2022, the Construction Tax or other bonuses that are still in force in the city.

Only in relation to discounts in the tax section, and according to the data provided by the Treasury to United We Can, which has been interested in knowing the current tax benefits, in 2022 the amount reached 245,898 euros. Also last year in relation to the Tax on Economic Activities the savings for taxpayers was 240,178, while in filming, this reached 1.4 million, and in relation to the IBI, that saving was 1,901,714 euros .
