twenty four hours after announce their withdrawals from the Popular Partyarguing “lack of transparency”, the deputy mayors of Granadilla de Abona Marcos González and Yanira González confirmed yesterday that they will integrate the list that the Canary Islands Coalition will present to the elections on May 28, in which they will occupy positions 5 and 12, respectively.

This was assured to this newspaper by Marcos González, who, after acknowledging that the decision to leave the Popular Party had not been easy, thanked José Domingo Regalado, current mayor and head of the Canary Islands Coalition list, for the possibility of participating in a political project which he defined “centered and very close to the neighbors.”

“On a personal level, it is a new challenge that gives us great hope, because it is to serve the citizens of Granadilla de Abona and in the municipalities people vote,” said González, who defined himself politically as “a person from the center very moderate.”

Regarding his resignation to continue in the PP, the first deputy mayor of Granada insisted that he had not received a call from the party leadership for “months”, but stressed that both he and his partner Yanira González are leaving “with their heads held high and after approving the municipal budgets.
