Grupo Mémora inaugurated yesterday a wake in Aguere, located in the emblematic Plaza del Cristo, next to the sanctuary of the Santísimo Cristo de La Laguna, with which it wants to offer the residents of the municipality and its surroundings a new comfortable and welcoming facility where they can say goodbye to your loved ones.

The opening ceremony included the general director of Mémora, Silvia Ramis; the bishop of Tenerife, Bernardo Álvarez, and the major slave of the Esclavitud del Cristo, Francisco Doblas, the brotherhood that owns the land where the new facility has been built, as well as with the assistance of representatives of Mémora and slavery, among others.

After the initial presentation, there was a visit to the facilities, which were blessed by the bishop, and their official inauguration. “In the last four years we have been working on this project to achieve an installation that is absolutely respectful of the heritage of the sanctuary and the surroundings of the square. We have wanted to guarantee harmony, integration at all times, but, above all, respect for the monumental complex and, at the same time, for the uses and customs of the place”, highlighted Silvia Ramis, who announced that the facilities “will remain closed three weeks every September, coinciding with the festivities of the Christ of La Laguna”. Silvia Ramis added that “we want to deploy our social commitment in La Laguna and the entire Island”, for which “we have started an art therapy project with the Hospital Universitario de la Candelaria and a day on Euthanasia with the Hospital de San Juan de Dios”. .

For his part, Francisco Doblas highlighted that it was a “historic” day for La Esclavitud and La Laguna and toured the development of this project since its inception, stressing that “it has been carried out according to the legal requirements of the administrations”. .

He also indicated that “everything we enter with this facility will go to charitable and social action, to help different projects of entities that need help.”

After an investment of 2.6 million euros, the facilities have five bright and warm wake rooms, distributed over a total area of 1,523 square meters, open 24 hours a day and with access from the square.
