
The Council of Tenerifethrough the Insular Water Council, allocates 1.3 million euros for the execution of a water supply tank for supply in the municipality of La Matanza, specifically on Las Piterillas street. The works, whose completion is scheduled for June next year, will improve the quality of human consumption in the area. In addition to executing the pipes, the clearing and subsequent closure of the site ceded by the city council will be carried out, to complete the valve chamber, the chlorination, low voltage and control booths, as well as the absorbent well for spillway and drains.
“This work is part of the projects planned to guarantee the supply of drinking water in different regions of Tenerife”, assesses the island’s Minister for Sustainable Development and the Fight Against Climate Change, Javier Rodríguez Medina, who visited the execution works with the mayor from La Matanza, Ignacio Rodríguez.
Rodríguez Medina pointed out that «we calculate that These tanks will have a capacity of 2,300 cubic meters of water in two glasses. The counselor recalled that in accordance with the Island Hydrological Plan “the Island Water Council must ensure the supply of populations, also including the basic transportation and distribution networks.” He added: “This work is part of a catalog of actions that are carried out in order to improve and increase the distribution capacity of drinking water for the population.”
Ignacio Rodríguez stressed that the beginning of the works “represents enormous satisfaction, as it is an intervention pursued for years that will contribute to improving the quality of the water and its correct distribution among the residents.” In addition, he pointed out that “guarantee a reservation for the areasince this deposit will reduce the current energy costs generated by the elevation, with a lower carbon footprint and its positive environmental effect ».
