SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 27 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the Cabildo de Tenerife, through the delegated area of External Action, support companies in the province in their internationalization with a mission plan that includes six countries, initial advice to 20 new companies, consultancy and financial support in the digital strategy for another seven and training for companies that want to be suppliers of the United Nations.

The CEO of Foreign Action of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Liskel Álvarez, pointed out at a press conference that “in total, companies will be able to access 75,000 euros of European Funds linked to internationalization.”

Álvarez announced that this year the trade mission plan is focused on Europe and Africa and four trade missions to Portugal, Italy, the Ivory Coast and Ghana have been scheduled.”

“To this must be added the visits to the Berlin International Tourism Fair and the Annecy International Animation Festival, in France, some obligatory stops for the tourism and audiovisual sector, both of great interest for the island economy,” he commented. .

Interested companies will have a personalized agenda, as well as a travel bag to help finance travel and accommodation expenses, as well as participation in the fair, he explained.

For Álvarez, “the internationalization of companies is synonymous with the generation of economy and employment, to encourage and help Tenerife SMEs that want to start going abroad this year, the second edition of the Tenerife + Global program is launched”.

In total, he said, “in 2023 there will be 20 places and those selected will be accompanied by various experts specialized in different branches of foreign trade.”

Álvarez added that the call for the Xpande Digital program has also just been launched, to promote online sales of companies.

“In total, seven places have been arranged. The beneficiary companies will undergo a diagnosis of their website and social networks, to establish a digital marketing strategy. In addition, each one will have financial aid of 4,000 euros with financing of 85% of the Feder to carry out the necessary improvements or to reinforce their promotional campaigns for the foreign market”, he pointed out.

TENERIFE IS BIDDING

For his part, the president of the Foreign Trade Commission of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Chamber of Commerce, Arturo Escuder, thanked the Tenerife Council for its collaboration, “since the union of both entities allows the Chamber of Commerce to manage European funds and carry out initiatives with exclusive financing from the Cabildo with outstanding programs at the national level such as Tenerife Licita”.

Escuder indicated that, in the last four years, companies in this province have obtained more than 400,000 euros from the European Regional Fund (Feder) for their internationalization, which would not have been possible without the co-financing of 15% of the island corporation.

The president also valued the good results of the Tenerife Licita program, “the visit of two technicians from the World Food Program to the Canary Islands to meet the companies that make gofio for distribution in Africa is related to the activity carried out by Tenerife Tender, 100% financed by the Cabildo de Tenerife and whose model is being replicated by other administrations”.

He also added that all the internationalization programs promoted include training and advice.

Altogether, more than 30 training actions will be carried out, aimed at companies and professionals, on topics as diverse as new markets, taxation, new technologies associated with internationalization, documents, contracting terms, legal aspects and international public contracting.

Last year, more than 800 people signed up for this training.

EXPORT AND IMPORT GUIDE

The Chamber of Commerce, together with the Cabildo de Tenerife, the territorial delegation of Commerce, the State and Autonomous Tax Agency, as well as the provincial offices of Foreign Health, Animal Health and Phytosanitary Control, have also joined efforts to update the Export Guide and Import from the Canary Islands, a key document that includes all the aspects that a company that wants to buy or sell products from other countries must take into account.

This is the only official document that is adapted to the Canarian reality and that includes both local taxes, as well as available transport aids or island particularities for the protection of plant species.

This year the regulation corresponding to dual-use material has been incorporated as a novelty, one that can be used both from a civil and military perspective, and mention is also made of the new Tax on Plastics, which came into force in January.

Likewise, import control is incorporated in electrical and electronic material and in batteries.

Likewise, there have been some modifications regarding the control of protected species and in the Foreign Health regulations.
