Clari Pérez, 51, is the bet of the Canary Coalition for the Mayor of Arona, a challenge that she faces with “joy”. She knows the house inside out after managing the Social Services Area for two terms.

-How do you feel about making your debut as a candidate for mayor?

“I was surprised by the proposal, I did not expect it, but I accepted it with joy and the support of my family. I come from the Social Services Area, where I spent eight very beautiful but very hard years. I have always had a vocation for public service and I feel very gratified when I can help a person”.

-What results do you expect to obtain on the 28M?

“What I want most is that people are encouraged to vote and, if it is for our project, even better. We try to convince people that we are a serious alternative.”

-This has been a convulsive mandate in Arona…

“And that causes distrust in people, who feel disappointed. With a budget of 100 million, it is a municipality that needs to be resuscitated”.

-What are your priorities?

“People, above all. Arona is a municipality with great economic possibilities, it has 95 million in the bank from the remainder of projects that have not been carried out or expenses that have not been carried out”.

-The government group accuses the opposition of voting against everything and later criticizing that the projects do not come out…

“The PSOE has lacked dialogue and a left hand. In our case we have been participatory and what moves us is that the projects that benefit people get ahead, starting with the neighborhoods. We don’t sell smoke.”

-What do the sectors and neighborhood groups with whom you have met transmit to you?

“Disappointment, detachment and distrust towards politics. The citizen does not give a damn about internal fights, because he wants results. And in Arona we have gone from paralysis to setback. I am concerned about the lack of management”.

-Years ago CC governed with an absolute majority in Arona and that support has been lost in each electoral appointment. To what does he attribute it?

“Arona has always lurched, but it is true that we have made mistakes, like everyone else, and the judicial investigations have also had an influence. In addition, the PSOE may have sold its messages better”.

-Numerous parties are presented on 28M in the municipality. What outlook does it portend?

“That there are so many parties is good, because that is the desire to mobilize the electorate. It is positive for democratic health.”

-CC is a red line marked when agreeing?

“With parties like Vox we will hardly agree. Otherwise, you have to wait for the results and what position each one is in. We will reach out to that formation that bets on the same line as us. It may also happen that Arona forms part of a regional and insular political agreement”.

-Beyond Arona, how do you see the South?

“He needs much more affection from the Cabildo and from the Government of the Canary Islands. You have to give it the importance it has, like Arona, who has been left behind and I am very sorry”.
