The mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, accompanied by the Councilor for Works and Infrastructures, Dámaso Arteaga, and the mayor of the Salud-La Salle district, Carlos tarife, presented today the project of a Carnival park in which they are working the technicians of the area and whose works are expected to begin before the end of this year, “a debt that the city has with the most important festival of this capital, since until now there was no outdoor public space alluding to it, at the same time that it will value the House of Carnivalconnected to this new park in the annexed lands”, indicates the first mayor.
Bermúdez advanced that “this action, with a planned investment of 3.2 million euros, revalues the most important festival that this city has and the one that gives it the most international projection, so all the decorative elements, the furniture and even the Children’s games will have as a common theme their allusion to Carnival” and affirms that “the conception of this public enclave will be where color is used, posters in the form of masks, clowns and certain symbols such as the sardine in the form of a central interactive game, of which two separate slides come out, ”says the mayor.
For his part, Dámaso Arteaga highlights that “it will act on an area of almost 8,500 m2has an estimated budget of 3.2 million and could be executed in a year and a half, once the works begin, which we hope will begin before the end of this year after the bidding process” and adds that “what It will promote the improvement of mobility and pedestrian traffic from the Tome Cano-Heliodoro R. López area to the commercial area and center of Santa Cruz, La Noria street, etc., precisely through the natural environment offered by the ravine”.
“All this action in a public space of these characteristics -Arteaga argues- will allow this urban park to be set in the heart of Santa Cruz, which allows us to create interactive uses and rooms, where the Carnival poster can be displayed” and adds “and why not, organize parades on the central walkway of this unique natural environment, which can be seen from the immediate surroundings, so its possibilities will allow a park that contributes to improving the mobility of the annexed areas through the natural environment of the ravine of Santos, a meeting place framed by a unique natural environment”.
At the same time, it will allow the improvement of the pavements and coverings that are in an advanced state of deterioration, the creation of new direct access, through stairs from La Salle avenue, allowing a more direct and safe access to the park.
Finally, the district councilor, Carlos Tarife, emphasized that “existing wall and terrace structures will be used and strengthened, in addition to improving communication to generate a more accessible urban space between the various platforms of the park” and added that “It will also mean the creation of new green areas that enhance the natural environment and allow the creation of new shaded spaces that invite you to stay and enjoy this place of unique value.”
To conclude, it must be implemented that the space will also be provided with lighting that invites its use safely during night hours, while the Galcerán bridge is provided with a decorative LED lighting system, creating a focus of attraction and promoting the use and enjoyment of the surroundings of the Santos ravine.
