The Cabildo de Tenerife has begun work on the last phase of the Guía de Isora senior center project, with which the Island Corporation and the City Council will respond to a historic demand from the residents of the southwestern region.
The insular president, Pedro Martín; the Minister of Social Action, Marián Franquet, and the mayoress of the municipality, Josefa Mesa, visited the center this week, whose implementation contemplates the creation of 75 residential places and 20 daytime.

Pedro Martín highlighted that, with the opening of the property, scheduled for this year, “from the Cabildo we resolve a pending issue and we comply with the commitment that we acquired at the beginning of the mandate to create new socio-sanitary places to try that the elderly can receive care of quality without moving away from its surroundings”.

Josefa Mesa stressed that it is a project that has been in demand for some time and that today is already a reality “thanks to the collaboration and the decisive impulse” that the Cabildo has given it. “By the end of 2023, it will be finished, providing a response to many families that needed this type of resource,” she added. For her part, Minister Marián Franquet explained that the main objective of the works, which have an execution period of 10 months, is to provide the center with some basic services that were not included in the project approved by the previous island government and without the which it is impossible to pay adequate attention, such as hot water or electricity.

More services

In parallel, the necessary furniture will be supplied, such as beds, bath chairs, transfer cranes and televisions, so that the elderly can reside and have facilities and equipment that contribute to improving their quality of life.

For the execution of these works there will be a budget of two million euros.
