SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The third vice-president and Minister of Social Action, Marián Franquet, has presented a new service, unique in the Canary Islands, with which the Cabildo de Tenerife wants to facilitate access to public employment for people with disabilities, especially intellectual ones, through the start-up of a specialized training classroom, among other supports.

The presentation was also attended by the insular director of Innovation Planning and Social Action Strategy, Ascensión Bacallado, and the person in charge of the Training area of ​​Sinpromi, Inés López.

Marián Franquet highlighted that it is a service managed by Sinpromi with which “we intend to go one step further to guarantee equal opportunities and the social integration of this group, informed, advising and giving people with disabilities the necessary training so that can attend public tests, so that they can cover the percentage of places reserved for them and access stable and quality employment”.

The counselor pointed out that only in the Sinpromi database there are some 7,187 people with disabilities registered on the island who are job seekers, of which 1,078 people have intellectual disabilities.

He recalled that, according to current regulations, 7% of the public job offer places must be reserved for people with disabilities and of this percentage, 2% must be covered with intellectual disabilities. “However, today not only is this percentage not reached, but also the places offered are not covered, a situation that we hope to reverse by providing comprehensive and personalized support to people with disabilities who want to apply,” he added.

For his part, Ascensión Bacallado explained that, in addition to responding to the added difficulties that people with disabilities have to, for example, access public employment information or complete registration, the new Public Employment Support service also offers advice to public administrations to, among other things, adapt the selection processes or guarantee the correct integration of people with disabilities in their job, once they have obtained the position.

The island director stressed that its implementation is part of the commitment that the Cabildo maintains with the full inclusion in society of the most vulnerable people through Sinpromi. In this context, he highlighted that only in the last four years, 2,216 contracts for people with disabilities had been formalized in companies on the island, of which almost half correspond to people with special integration difficulties, such as people with intellectual disabilities and with mental health problems.

HOW TO ACCESS THE NEW SERVICE

The person in charge of the Training area of ​​Sinpromi, Inés López, pointed out that people with disabilities who are interested in this service can contact the entity from today, by calling 922 24 91 99. From that moment on, They will be offered timely information on the selection processes that are open and that best suit their professional profile. They will also be given support in their registration, in addition to offering them specific guidance on the training actions that score the merits contest.

In the case of people with intellectual disabilities, they will also be helped to prepare the syllabus for the oppositions, with adapted training courses, and a support person will be made available to each of the participants when they join. to your job

The period for enrolling in the first adapted courses that are going to be taught to cover Ordinance and Complementary Support Tasks positions is now open.
