Bahía del Duque achieves the EMAS European environmental management certification

Bahía del Duque goes a step further in its sustainability objectives and achieves the EMAS certification of the European Union, Community Eco-management Regulation and Eco-audit. The hotel thus joins the 25 tourist establishments in Canary Islands (19 in Tenerife) which, according to the European Commission and until March 3, are certified with EMAS.

It is a tool with which the European Union recognizes those organizations that have implemented an environmental management system and have acquired a commitment to continuous improvement, verified through independent audits.

As an EMAS certified company, Bahía del Duque voluntarily and systematically plans, manages and improves its performance, committing to rigorous legal compliance and continuous improvement. For this, the hotel of The Tais Hotels & Villas has a policy defined environmental impact, makes use of a management system to protect the environment, taking advantage of opportunities to prevent or mitigate environmental impacts, and periodically reportsthrough an environmental statement verified by independent bodies.

Mónica Rumeu, Director of Corporate Sustainability of the CIO Group, to which Bahía del Duque belongs, explained that “at Bahía del Duque we have defined improving environmental performance as a priority, carrying out our activity in a respectful manner and minimizing our impacts, in line with with the concern shared with today’s society. In our desire to improve, and bearing in mind the pillars of sustainable development, we have decided to take a step forward through the EMAS certification, the most demanding and reputable in the environmental context.”

Bahía del Duque has a history of 30 years and experts choose it among the best hotel establishments in Europe.
